SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State’s Kaycee Manding picked up the first conference weekly honors of her career as she was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women’s Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

A defender for the Jackrabbits, Manding recorded two assists in SDSU’s 3-2 victory at Northern Arizona on Aug. 23. Her second assist of the contest led to an 85th-minute game-winning goal by Maya Hansen. She tied for a team-high 75 minutes played in the match versus the Lumberjacks and followed it up by playing 70 minutes on the pitch Sunday against Bemidji State, the most on the Jackrabbits roster. Manding helped bolster a back line that gave up five shots to the Beavers with just two being put on goal.

Manding has got off to a strong 2022 season in her third year in the SDSU program. The Waipahu, Hawaii, native has three assists this season which is tied for The Summit League lead and ranks 14th in NCAA Division I women’s soccer. Her point total already compares to her career output she had coming into 2022 through two seasons played.

The Jackrabbits continue the 2022 slate on Thursday with a 4 p.m. matchup at Northern Iowa. SDSU returns home for the first of seven consecutive games at Fishback Soccer Park Sunday when the Jackrabbits host Drake at 6 p.m.
